Well, the list is out on Forbes.com for ‘The Top-Earning Musicians of 2010′ and at the top is U2!

According to the site:

‘Eighties supergroup U2 made more money than anyone else in music last year, netting an estimated $130 million on the strength of a worldwide tour that sold 1.3 million tickets at an average price of $94 a seat in North America alone. The band, which recently postponed some dates on the tour until 2011, will likely end up in one of the top spots on next year’s list as well.’

I converted the amount each of the top earners made from U.S to Australian dollars below:

1. U2 ($149.5m)
2. AC/DC ($131.1m)
3. Beyonce Knowles ($100m)
4. Bruce Springsteen (£45.7m)
5. Britney Spears (£41.8m)
6. Jay-Z (£41.1m)
7. Lady Gaga ($71.3m)
8. Madonna ($66.7m)
9. Kenny Chesney ($57.5m)
10. Black Eyed Peas  and Coldplay ($55m)

Josh Homme, lead singer of Queens of the Stone Age recently told Rolling Stone that once the band has finished its run of festival dates in Europe this summer, they will be returning to the studio to record their sixth album.

Josh has told Rolling Stone that the music on their next album will be more like their 2007 album, “Era Vulgaris” and also have aims for the album to be released mid 2011!

Uh ohhhh!

During their slot at the ”Optimus Alive” festival in Lisbon on July 11,  Pearl Jam hinted to the audience that they will be taking a long time from touring. Reading from a prepared sheet of paper, Eddie Vedder made the announcement in Portuguese saying:

Thank you for coming to our last show,”

“Not our last ever, but our last in a long time.”

This being said at the beginning of their set they then continued the gig without anymore words about the break from touring.

Oh dear, what is happening to my beloved Pearl Jam?

The official video for Brandon Flowers’ debut single “Crossfire” was released today. The video features the lovely Charlize Theron kicking butt and saving Mr. Flowers and the ending is a bit cute! I also included the making of video along with the official video! Enjoy!

President of the U.S.A, Barrack Obama has personally chosen The Killers to play at the White House’s “Salute To The Military” United Service Organizations Concert. The concert, which is in honour of the US troops, takes place every year during the 4th of July celebrations.

Speaking of the opportunity, lead singer, Brandon Flowers said:

“It is a monumental honour for us to be a part of this 4th of July celebration at the White House. We could never repay the service men and women of this country for their contributions and sacrifice. To perform for them and their families on America’s birthday will be our pleasure.”

The show will be streamed live on the White House’s website!

Vuvuzela free T

The organisers of the Scottish music festival “T In The Park” has emailed those who will be attending the 2010 festival, which is held over the 9th-11th July.

The organisers have announced that there will be a ban on vuvuzelas at the event. In the email the festivals organisers said the horn-like instruments (which are ridiculously popular at this years FIFA world cup), ”were not suitable for a music festival”. They also went on to tell the ticket holders that those found with the plastic horns would have them confiscated.

I totally agree, the monotonous noise that accompanies every match I watch drives me nuts and I’d probably end up decking someone if they were constantly blowing one in the mosh pit of my favourite band. Below, is the lineup for this year’s festival, which is very similar to this year’s “Oxegen” festival!
